Ippon Kumite Kata

 
Ippon Kumite Kata should be performed on the left and right side. All attacks are to your own body level.

Nickname; Shuto or Sushi
1. Ready position. Step back into a left forward stance and execute a left high block. Grab attackers wrist and pull to side of body. Moving forward execute a right front kick to the attackers groin and execute a right knife hand (shuto) to attackers left clavicle. Execute a left then right punch to attackers’ solar plexus. Step back into a left front stance and execute a left low block. Stand up to ready position.


Nickname; Tettui or Bob the Builder
2. Ready position. Step back into a left forward stance and execute a left high block. Grab attackers wrist and pull to side of body. Moving forward execute a right front kick to the attackers groin and execute a right hammer fist (tettui) to attackers left clavicle. Execute a left then right punch to attackers’ solar plexus. Step back into a left front stance and execute a left low block. Stand up to ready position.


Nickname; Leopard
3. Ready position. Step back into a left forward stance and execute a left high block. Grab attackers wrist and pull to side of body. Moving forward execute a right front kick to the attackers groin and execute a right leopard strike (honiken) to attackers throat. Execute a left then right punch to attackers’ solar plexus. Step back into a left front stance and execute a left low block. Stand up to ready position.

 
Nickname; Tate
4. Ready position. Step back into a left forward stance and execute a left high block. Grab attackers wrist and pull to side of body. Moving forward execute a right front kick to the attackers groin and execute a right vertical punch (tate) to attackers solar plexus. Execute a left then right punch to attackers’ solar plexus. Step back into a left front stance and execute a left low block. Stand up to ready position.

 
Nickname; Shotei
5. Ready position. Step back into a left forward stance and execute a left high block. Grab attackers wrist and pull to side of body. Moving forward execute a right front kick to the attackers groin and execute a right palm heel strike (shotei) to attackers mandible. Execute a left then right punch to attackers’ solar plexus. Step back into a left front stance and execute a left low block. Stand up to ready position.

 
Nickname; Choppity Chop
6. Ready position. Step back into a left forward stance and execute a left high block. Grab attackers wrist and pull to side of body. Move forward into a 45 degree horse riding stance, execute a right knife hand to attackers bicep then side of neck. Pivot into a right forward stance. Execute a left then right punch to attackers’ solar plexus. Step back into a left front stance and execute a left low block. Stand up to ready position.


Nickname; Stomp, choppity chop
7. Ready position. Step back into a left forward stance and execute a left high block. Grab attackers wrist and pull to side of body. Move forward stomp to attackers foot setting into a 45 degree natural stance. Slide out into a 45 degree horse riding stance, execute a right knife hand to attackers bicep then side of neck. Pivot into a right forward stance. Execute a left then right punch to attackers’ solar plexus. Step back into a left front stance and execute a left low block. Stand up to ready position.

 
Nickname; Osoto Gari
8. Ready position. Step back into a left forward stance and execute a left high block. Grab attackers wrist and pull to side of body. Moving forward with your right leg sweep attackers right leg and simultaneously execute a right elbow to attackers’ chest. Execute a left then right punch to low part of the body (attackers’ head). Execute a left low block. Stand up to ready position.


Nickname; Whirling Dervish
9. Ready position. With the right leg, step forward to a online natural stance and execute a right iron hammer block to attackers right arm. Grab and pin attackers same arm to your side after the block. Move your left leg counterclockwise so you are facing the same way as attacker and execute a left hammer strike to attackers’ groin. Same arm reaches forward strikes back with a left elbow to attackers solar plexus. Place your left foot in front of your right foot, spin clockwise to face front of the attacker stopping into a left front stance. Execute a left and right punch to attackers’ solar plexus. Execute a left low block. Stand up to ready position.
 

Nickname; Hokey Pokey

10. Ready position. Hop back into a full face horse riding stance to the front. Simultaneously block attackers’ left handed grab with a right crane block (koken). Hop forward striking attackers groin with left punch and sliding right hand down to a knife hand strike to attackers’ side of the neck. Execute a left then right punch to attackers’ solar plexus. Step back into a left front stance and execute a left low block. Stand up to ready position.
